The Calm befiore the storm.

Hello fish fans. It’s so hard to believe that next weekend is Memorial Day, this month of May is flying by!! I am very excited to announce that my son Capt. Corey, just completed his USCG exams at Mass Maritime Academy and went “7 for 7” and now he is a 3rd asst. marine engineer. We are all so proud of him and his efforts. He will graduate form the Academy on June 16th with his BS in Marine Engineering and a minor in Mechanical Engineering. Great job buddy!!!! The stress these cadets are under to pass these exams is huge so I know he is very pleased to have this done and in the bag.

This past Saturday Corey, my store manager Danny, Winslow, and another buddy Ron all headed of Sesuit Harbor to go bass fishing. They grabbed a bunch of live macks and headed up to Barnstable Harbor and had a ball live lining them. They caught a ton of Bass with Winslow catching the pool fish at 40 inches. The bass are everywhere in the Bay and you can catch them anyway you want from trolling to casting to bait fishing. The fish are all over the southside of the shoals as well as Barnstable. It is some of the best bass fishing of the season so get out there and enjoy.

The sea bass are still biting in Buzzards Bay as some of my customers have reported some great catches with some big sea bass. Yummy!!!! There are bluefish starting to show up on the southside beaches and when you get that sw wind the beaches come alive. The tuna have been seen up off of P-town and I was told one was caught yesterday. My brother Capt. Matt fished out east of Chatham yesterday and said everything is there, bait and whales, but he did not see any tuna. Someone will catch one out east this week or next weekend. It won’t be long and they will be here in big numbers and the “Bite” will be on. Remember the June full moon is on the 4th and that will trigger a really good slug of fish to move in. Things will really turn on then.

The boats are in the water and the crew and I have been working hard to get them all ready for the season. My bookings are very, very good and I only have a few dates open in June so if you want to go call and book now. I have Friday June 1st and Sat. June 2nd open so who wants to be the first angler of my 2012 season to catch a “wicked” big tuna?!?!?! Umh…… I am still open for the “Tuna Fest” Tuna Tournament on June 22nd and 23rd. It’s a great even to fish with lots of fun and prizes $$$!!!  Check out the Tournament page for details. Good luck. “It’s All About The Bite”  Capt. Eric and Crew
